Excellent package, especially for the price.
For the cost of this package, you get Expression Web 3, Expression Design 3 and Expression Encoder. You simply can't get this kind of value anywhere else. This is especially true if you want to create asp(.)net pages because you can also download the free Visual Web Developer Express program that will make it easier for you to code your back end code.Expression web 3 has a great design preview compared to Dreamweaver CS3 (the version I currently use). In Dreamweaver CS3, css layouts look horrible, whereas in EW3, you get a pretty accurate representation of what your page will look like. When you want to take a good look at the way your page will appear, you can use EW3's Super Preview, which will show you what your site will look like in different browsers (inluding IE6).Admittedly, I still prefer Dreamweaver's property box and CSS editing tools over EW3, but this is what I have been using for years. A good step up
I have worked with FrontPage since version 97, which was, overall, a real stinker. I have also worked with Dreamweaver since its earliest versions. In times past, FrontPage has largely been the site management and application development leader of the two, while Dreamweaver was much better at templating and all of the eye candy, like mouseover images, that we have become so fond of using in our sites.Having said that, FrontPage 2003 is a great step in the right direction. Great alternative to Dreamweaver
I use this product mostly to modify complex CSS layouts. I've found it to be a nice, intuitive tool.This is a great alternative to Dreamweaver. Expression Web is $250 cheaper than Dreamweaver and at least as good for what I do. I'm glad Microsoft has provided me an alternative to Adobe's overpriced cash cow.I'm not a full-time web designer who uses this 40 hours a week, so I can't speak to how it compares to Dreamweaver in that arena.I haven't noticed a problem with slow start time (how many times do you restart it during a day, anyway?) I have also not noticed any instability. I'm running it in Windows 7.

Website Development with Expression Web 4
My background is straight HTML/CSS development as well as FrontPage 2003 development. I was tasked with the objective of converting a problematic 5000 line FP website to something easy to use and compatible with my website provider. (Since FP has lost support from MS the provider also is withdrawing support.) Unfortunately, MS offers no conversion path. (Incredibly short sighted!!!!!!) I was on my own to get rid of any code that used "FP extensions" as well as various syntax problems from FP. (For example, uppercase FP HTML tokens are non-standard.) Once all of the non-standard FP code was deleted or modified, I was able to import the website into one of the standard Expression Web CSS templates. From there everything worked very smoothly. Code validation is built-in with many ways of reporting status or errors. Pages can be previewed in 3 ways: a) Directly in the EW4 designer; b) Hitting a function to call Internet Explorer; or c) using their SP or SuperPreview mode...

I suppose that everything must change and it does look slick.
Having used the Office programs for some time, I was a bit put off by the new ribbons which replace the old menus. I guess that Office needed a new look, but I am not sure if I buy the advertising that the ribbon will make my work more productive.Some things that you should know about Office 2007 and Ultimate in general. The licensing agreement allows you to install Office 2007 Ultimate on two computers, one of them being a laptop. I found this clause in the legal agreement and even called Microsoft Legal to confirm.If you make modifications to the Quick Access Toolbar (and who won't do that?) and you want to take these changes with you to another computer, the files for the toolbars are located at:C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OfficeWhere username is your username.
